about

(SPHC-59)
(Finland)

The last record by one of the greatest punk bands of all time. It's an honor to help make this record easily available for cheap here in my stupid asshole country.

Since 1979, Terveet Kadet has been "one of the best punk bands in the world". Tons of classic records, and like all true champions, they're leaving on a high note. This final (?) LP is a textbook example of the short-songs blazing-fast demented-and-vicious hardcore punk that Terveet Kadet stylized and popularized (yet nobody else has come close in copying). True masters.

Stick a candle up your butt and pay your respects to the Black Gods of Noise.

Like every SPHC release...there's a slight mistake on the layout LOL. But I don't think it detracts from this release. I legit think that Terveet Kadet fared the best out of any continuously running hardcore band from the 80's that's not Japanese, with Ratos de Porao coming in a very close second (and really, both those bands hold their own with Gauze, Tetsu Array, etc). TK may have had a slump for a bit in their career but the last few records on SPHC and Kamaset Levyt are KILLER, in my opinion it's just as good as the classic stuff.

I think this was also the first record I ever did where I had to deal with licensing, because Svart (Finland) did the Euro pressing and they are quite a bit more professional than I am. And in that sense, it was very very kind of TK to work with Svart to ensure my inclusion, and I am really grateful that I was able to play a role in this one.

Also I think this release was my first gatefold jacket....I always shied away from that stuff cause it's sooo expensive but I figured this was a safe bet to splurge on, and also the layout really benefited from being a proper gatefold and not having to be adapted into some sort of poster or extra insert or something. Imprint really did a fantastic job with all the packaging.

This was released for Terveet Kadet/Gas Chamber west coast tour, and it includes a tour poster that Jani whipped up, but there was another poster that Wes Samples drew up that we had big fancy screenprints of. It's fan-fucking-tastic. I think it's arguably the best piece of work that Wes ever did (that or the 2011 See You in Hell/Lotus Fucker/xBrainiax tour shirt), and according to Wes it was his most labor intensive piece. I really miss Wes' art. Anyway we made tour shirts with the poster design on it, which an acquaintance in Brazil would bootleg a little later, which I thought was fucking hilarious/cool/awesome. I made sure to nab one for me and one for Wes.
